Mad Dogs heading to the US

Shawn Ryan, co-creator of sunken ABC submarine drama Last Resort, has revealed he is developing a US version of UK miniseries Mad Dogs.

Mad Dogs has run for two four-part seasons on UK satcaster Sky1 and is produced by Sony Pictures Television- and BBC Worldwide-backed prodco Left Bank Pictures.

Ryan, who also created cop dramas The Shield and The Chicago Code, is now working with British writer Cris Cole to remake the comedic thriller for US television.

Speaking on comedy series Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show in the US, Ryan said: “We’re looking to make it as a miniseries over here.” Left Bank declined to comment today.

Last Resort was cancelled earlier this month, after ABC decided not to extend its episode order. However, it will remain in its Thursday 20.00 slot for its initial 13-part run.

Ryan’s next project is the pilot of Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy for CBS, while he is also developing a series at HBO with Last Resort writer Ron Fitzgerald. Furthermore, Ryan said he is working with author Greg Hurwitz, who is adapting his Troubleshooter novels for a series at TNT.
