Int’l nets examine Scorpion’s Porn

Broadcasters including VTM in Belgium, ZDF in Germany and Finland’s YLE have picked up a one-off documentary that examines the effect of pornography on young minds.

Porn On the Brain, produced by London-based indie Blink Films for the UK’s Channel 4 (C4), is being sold internationally by factual specialist distributor Scorpion TV.

Globosat Brasil, UR Sweden and TVNZ have also picked up the 47-minute special.

Scorpion has sold a raft of other documentary titles around the world as it prepares to launch its new slate of shows at Mipcom in Cannes next month.

VTM Belgium and UR Sweden have acquired How to be a Billionaire (1×47’), produced by CC-Lab for C4. The show follows three billionaires to see who they are, how they live and what they do with their income.

Australian pay TV platform Foxtel, TV4 in Sweden, Japanese pubcaster NHK and Landmark USA have acquired Cyber Bully (1×52’) produced by Submit the Documentary, about the rise of internet bullying and efforts being made to combat it.

Sky TV New Zealand, Russia Today and Foxtel have picked up Musicwood (1×52’) from Helpman Films, which looks at how the future of acoustic guitars is threatened by deforestation in Alaska.

Sonar TV in Ukraine has taken Cyclone Media Networks-produced Tornado Chasers (12 x 30’), which follows extreme meteorologists as they drive into tornadoes to take measurements, and Places We Go (39×30’) produced by Eve Media, about a personable couple on their travels to far flung places.

Al Jazeera has acquired Stem Cell Revolutions (1×52’) produced by the Scottish Documentary Institute about the latest developments in stem cell biology.

The latest additions to Scorpion’s slate include Survival of the Fabulous (1×52’), which is produced by SOTF Productions and attempts to discover how homosexuality has survived evolution.

The sales house has also taken A Goat for a Vote (1×52), produced by Een van de Jongens, which follows three students in Kenya competing to become the next school president.
