FX in the US has cancelled Denis Leary’s comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll after two seasons.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll debuted in early 2015 and marked Leary’s first TV venture since FX firefighter drama Rescue Me ended its seven-season run in 2011.

The actor also wrote the show, which was produced by FX Productions and Fox 21 Television Studios and was filmed on location in New York City.

FX commissioned a second run last year but the show failed to attract large numbers of viewers.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll revolved around Johnny Rock (Leary), a middle-aged rocker who desperately wanted to be rich and famous after his early 1990s band, The Heathens, was on the cusp of breaking through.
