Fox’s Lynch resurrected for The CW

Fox Telecolombia’s Lynch

US broadcast network The CW has picked up the rights to a Latin American dark comedy set in a funeral home from Fox Networks Group Content Distribution (FNGCD).

Lynch (30×60’) was originally produced by Fox Telecolombia for Fox Lat Am and ran for three seasons. The pilot for The CW’s adaptation will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Intrigue Entertainment.

The new version, titled Playing Dead, will be written by Rina Mimoun (Mistresses, The Catch) and Josh Reims (Jane the Virgin, Brothers & Sisters). The pair will also executive produce alongside Tariq Jalil (Operation Repo, Blackbird) and Lucas Carter (Camden, Intrusion) of Intrigue.

Lynch centres on a funeral home owner who sets up a side business to help people disappear by faking their own deaths, complete with a range of funeral options, and take up new identities. Paula Massa is the executive producer of the original version.

Prentiss Fraser, executive VP and MD at FNGCD, described the show as a cross between Six Feet Under and Ray Donovan.
