Fox cancels Raising Hope

US network Fox has pulled the plug on family comedy Raising Hope after four seasons.

The sitcom, which was moved to Friday nights this season, will broadcast a special one-hour series finale on April 4.

The decision comes just days after the network renewed comedies New Girl, The Mindy Project and Brooklyn Nine Nine for the 2014-15 season.

These join psychological thriller The Following and three other scripted series which have already been picked up for next season: Glee, Sleepy Hollow and Bones.

Raising Hope, which was created by Greg Garcia, bowed in the fall of 2010. The sitcom is produced by Amigos de Garcia Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television.

In late 2012, Fox previewed the season three premiere of Raising Hope on Twitter – the first time that a network has made a full TV episode available on the social network.
