Disney Zips up toon deal

Disney Channel has picked up French toon Zip Zip from Paris-based producer Go-N to air in several territories.

zip-zipDisney’s deal for the 52×13’ series includes Italy, Benelux, Russia, Israel, India, Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, Australia and Latin America.

The show has also been acquired by SVT in Sweden, SIC K in Portugal, ITI Neovision in Poland, E-Junior in the UAE and DSTV Kids in Angola and Mozambique.

Zip Zip tells the story of a group of forest animals who, having grown tired of living in the wilderness, decide to disguise themselves as domestic pets, zipping themselves into cat and dog costumes as they seek the comfort of life with a suburban family.

The series, which was the second most screened property at Mip Junior last year, was produced for France Télévisions, SuperRTL in Germany and Disney Channel France. It is due to premiere within the next few weeks on France 3’s Ludo block and SuperRTL’s Toggo.

Go-N is currently producing the fourth season of publisher Glénat’s popular kids’ property Titeuf, aka Titoof, which comprises 75×7’ episodes and a 22’ special.

The animation studio is also developing Tib & Tumtum for TF1, adapted from another Glénat comic book and written by Flora Grimaldi and Nicolas Bannister.

It is the third series Go-N has produced based on Glénat’s comic books, after Lou!, a modern urban series for girls which it has recently sold to HR for Kika in Germany and DR TV in Denmark.
