Discovery moves Cash Cab to lift

Cash Lift is a five-episode spin-off from Cash Cab

Discovery Communications has linked up with digital prodco Group Nine Media, backed by the US broadcaster, for a competition show available via its Go service and Facebook Watch.

Cash Lift is a five-episode series based on Cash Cab, which is currently airing on Sundays at 22.00ET/PT on Discovery Channel.

The digital series, hosted by comedians Alex Weber and Zainab Johnson, moves the competition out of the cab and into a hotel, where unsuspecting guests step into an elevator that quickly turns into a trivia gameshow.

After choosing a floor, contestants must answer as many questions as they can in order to win cash.

Discovery has previously worked with Group Nine for programming during its Shark Week strand.

The prodco formed in late 2016 through the merger of The Dodo, Thrillist, NowThis & Seeker, with a US$100m investment from Discovery. The factual giant was also part of a more recent funding round which raised a further US$40m.
