Depp, Branson team on music drama

Companies belonging to Hollywood star Johnny Depp and businessman Sir Richard Branson have teamed up to develop a TV drama series based on feature documentary Muscle Shoals.

The series will be produced by Depp’s Infinitum Nihil and Branson’s Virgin Produced, along with City Entertainment’s Joshua Maurer and Alixandre Witlin.

The original doc centred on Rick Hall, the founder of FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and his work on iconic songs such as I’ll Take You There and Brown Sugar.

Feature doc Muscle Shoals will be adapted as a drama

Greg Camalier, who directed and produced the doc, will also produce the drama adaptation.

Virgin Produced’s exec VP of production Rene Rigal brought the project into the company and will oversee it with Infinitum Nihil’s Bobby DeLeon.
