CBS orders Kevin James comedy

US broadcast network CBS has ordered another comedy series to be exec produced by comic actor Kevin James.

The as-yet-untitled series, from Sony Pictures Television, stars comedian Gina Brillon as a New Yorker whose seven-year relationship with her partner comes to an abrupt end.

The show is inspired by Brillon’s stand-up comedy and is penned by Adam Barr, whose credits include Will & Grace and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

James (The King of Queens) will be an executive producer alongside Jeff Sussman, Judy Marmel and Chris Mazilli. James is already an exec producer and star on Kevin Can Wait on CBS, a sitcom that debuted in September.
