C4 takes on beauty queen murder case

Channel 4 in the UK has acquired the rights to a US true crime series focusing on the murder of six-year-old beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey.

The Case of JonBenét Ramsey (2×120’) was produced by Critical Content for CBS in the US and is being shopped globally by Electus International.

The doc follows one of America’s most notorious unsolved murders, re-examining the evidence and circumstances surrounding the young girl’s death in Colorado in 1996.

Channel 4 will air it on its More4 channel as the 20th anniversary of the murder approaches. It has already aired on Global TV in Canada and Nine Network in Australia.

Critical Content was previously the television arm of Relativity Media, which went bankrupt earlier this year. The profitable TV arm of the company broke away and rebranded under CEO Tom Forman, who executive produces the Ramsey project with Andrew Marcus and Eddie Schmidt.
