Nat Geo, C4 explore online stunts

National Geographic Channels International (NGCI), Channel 4 in the UK and German distributor Red Arrow International have linked up to order a daredevil stunt show from Nerd TV.

The six-part series is being fronted by comedy duo Tim Shaw and Buddy Munro and will follow them as they track down the originators of stunts posted online, such as water skiing behind a container ship and playing tennis on an airplane.

The show has been coproduced by NGCI, Channel 4, Red Arrow International and UK indie Nerd and has been provisionally named True Tube for NGCI and Idiot Proof (W/T) for Channel 4.

It will premiere in 2015 on the National Geographic Channel in 170 countries and in 45 languages as part of its Entertain your Brain strand, and in the UK on Channel 4.

In related news, Channel 4 has also ordered a primetime factual special exploring the subjects of race, immigration and ethnicity.

Things We Won’t Say About Race That Are True (1×75′) is being coproduced by Outline Productions and Pepper Productions and explores if and why the UK is uneasy about discussing issues around race and diversity.

The show has been written and presented by Trevor Phillips, with Simon Finch producing. Vicki Cooper is attached as director and the show has been exec produced by Helen Veale.
