CBC hires acquisitions chief

Canadian public broadcaster CBC has appointed one of the founders of distribution outfit BuzzTaxi as its senior director of acquisitions.

Jenna Bourdeau will lead the broadcaster’s acquisitions strategy, reporting to general manager of programming Sally Catto. She is taking over responsibilities from Michael Serafini who left his position as senior director of content planning and acquisitions after just over three years in August.

Bourdeau was most recently VP of distribution at Proper Rights, the production outfit that moved into distribution by buying BuzzTaxi in June last year.

Bourdeau co-founded BuzzTaxi with Natalie Vinet in 1999 and built a catalogue of more than 500 hours of programming, licensing content into 100 countries.

At CBC, Bourdeau is charged with overseeing the acquisition of “distinct, bold and engaging” Canadian and international content for all the broadcaster’s platforms.
