Bunim/Murray expands to New York

Banijay Group-owned Bunim/Murray Productions (BMP) is opening a New York office and has appointed a former BBC and Mentorn Media exec to head up the operation.

Rob Bagshaw becomes senior VP of development and production and will lead the firm’s East Coast operation. He previously worked as showrunner and executive producer at BMP on its shows including Project Runway All Stars and Top Chef Masters.

Prior to that, he was executive producer of current programming and development for BBC Worldwide Productions and also had a stint as head of international programming for UK prodco Mentorn.

BMP, which is behind reality hit Keeping Up with the Kardashians, said its New York office would allow it to grow across platforms and increase sales to East Coast buyers in cable, digital and branded entertainment.

BMP, which was acquired by Banijay in 2012 and launched a Latin American division in 2013, is widely known for its reality fare, having created The Real World for MTV in 1992.

It has also been behind shows including The Simple Life and its first reality soap opera Starting Over for E!. It is currently working on Kourtney and Khloe Take The Hamptons and Total Divas for the US net.
