Bell bags up Amazon’s Bosch

Canadian broadcaster Bell Media will air the forthcoming television adaptation of Michael Connelly’s Bosch crime novels after securing rights to the show.

The series, currently in production, was originally ordered by Amazon Studios last year and stars Titus Welliver as an LAPD homicide detective who stops at nothing to bring justice to victims of crime.

The show is produced by Fabrik Entertainment and distributed globally by Red Arrow International with Jim McKay (The Wire, Boss) directing. Eric Overmyer (Treme, Homicide: Life on the Street) is attached as showrunner.

Mike Cosentino, senior VP of programming at Bell, said the show would be added to the company’s fledgling SVOD service, Project Latte, which was revealed in October.

The Canuck broadcaster has not revealed subscription costs but has lined up a deal with US network HBO to feature its entire scripted library on the service, which will make up 10% of the launch slate.

Germany-based Red Arrow has already sold the show to HBO Nordic in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway after launching it at this year’s Mipcom. Elsewhere Modern Times Group has picked up free TV rights for its channels in Sweden and Norway.
