BBCWW hires three in Asia

BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) has made a series of changes to its staffing in Asia following the appointment of David Weiland as exec VP for the region.

Amit Arora becomes head of business development in Asia for the UK pubcaster’s commercial arm, overseeing strategy and business development.

He joins from telecoms firm Delta Partners having also previously worked for Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner Cable in the US. He will report to Nick Percy, BBCWW’s director of business development and digital across global markets.

Meanwhile, Laura Byrnes has been named head of business and legal affairs for BBCWW in Asia, having previously worked as director of legal and business affairs at NBCUniversal Asia Pacific.

She will be joined by James Wildbore, who becomes VP of finance in Asia, responsible for developing and managing the firm’s finances in the region, as well as providing commercial, operational, business developmental and strategic direction for the business. He is currently exec director of finance at Disney in Singapore.

Weiland, who moved to BBCWW’s Asian operation at the start of April, said the additions would “enhance our capability to further grow the BBC brand in Asia and underline the company’s commitment to the region.”
