BBC4 uncovers Hidden in Wales

Different versions of Hidden will air on BBC Wales and BBC4

BBC4 in the UK has picked up a forthcoming drama from the co-creator and producer of Welsh- and English-language series Hinterland (aka Y Gwyll).

Hidden, produced by Severn Screen for S4C and BBC Wales, was co-created by the UK prodco’s Mark Andrew and Ed Talfan, who both worked on Hinterland and will serve as executive producers alongside producer Hannah Thomas.

The show, sold by All3Media International, will premiere in Welsh on S4C in January as Craith, before a bilingual version, titled Hidden, airs first on BBC Wales and then on BBC4.

The series, which is being showcased to international buyers at Content London later this month, follows a detective whose life is changed forever after she returns to her home town and investigates the murder of a local woman.

Caroline Stephenson, senior VP for EMEA at All3Media International, described the show as “a truly gripping crime drama, in the Scandi noir vein, set amidst the breathtaking landscapes of northern Wales.”

Hinterland, produced by Fiction Factory, has been picked up by broadcasters in more than 70 territories since debuting on S4C and BBC Wales, including in the US by non-profit syndicator American Public Television. It is also sold by All3Media.
