The Great South African Bake Off returns to BBC Lifestyle in October

BBC Lifestyle in South Africa has ordered a third season of Love Productions’ cookery format Bake Off.

The Great South African Bake Off’s third run will air in October, featuring the county’s best amateur bakers as they attempt to impress judges with their culinary skills.

Local prodco Rapid Blue is producing the format, which is sold by BBC Lifestyle owner and the format’s distributor BBC Worldwide. Local cooking celebrity Zola Nene will join the expert judging panel alongside Tjaart Walraven, after former judge Shirley Guy stepped down.

The Love Productions format has been licensed in 25 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Thailand and Mexico.

The UK version moved from BBC1 to Channel 4 in a high-profile £75m (US$96.6m) deal last year, with the first C4 version of the show due to air this week.
