Bavaria Fiction becomes fact

Das Boot is adapted from Wolfgang Petersen’s film

German production company Bavaria Fernsehproduktion has rebranded as Bavaria Fiction.

The firm was born out of the television arm of Bavaria Film and is now a subsidiary of the feature film producer and ZDF Enterprises, the commercial arm of German public broadcaster ZDF.

Oliver Vogel will lead the company in his newly created position as chief creative officer.

Programmes on the rebranded company’s roster include Storm of Love (ARD), The Rosenheim Cops (ZDF), SOKO Stuttgart (ZDF), Rentnercops (ARD), Inga Lindström (ZDF) and Dr Klein (ZDF) in Germany alone.

The prodco is also increasingly active in event productions such as multi-parters Brecht (ARD) and Bella Germania (ZDF), and international coproductions including Das Boot (Sky Deutschland/Sonar Entertainment) and Germanized (Deutsche Telekom).

Founded in 2007, Bavaria Fiction has offices in Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart and Berlin.
