Amazon tucks into NBC’s CHiPs

Amazon Prime Video has picked up the exclusive US SVoD rights to NBC’s classic crime drama CHiPs.

CHiPs aired on NBC for six seasons

The show originally ran in primetime on NBC for six seasons between 1977 and 1983 and will be made available on Amazon’s Prime Video Direct self-service programme.

The streaming agreement was brokered by US distributors FilmRise and Warner Bros Domestic Television Distribution.

CHiPs follows a pair of California Highway Patrol officers as they cruise the freeways of Los Angeles on their motorcycles while solving crimes.

FilmRise also made an exclusive agreement with ITV Studios Global Entertainment for the ad-supported rights to two Gordon Ramsay titles.

From this month, Hell’s Kitchen (seasons 1-15) and Kitchen Nightmares are now available exclusively for free across the FilmRise streaming network, including Roku, Xbox, Apple, Amazon Fire TV and Android platforms.

Max Einhorn, VP of acquisitions at FilmRise, negotiated the deal for CHiPS on behalf of FilmRise.
