Amazon, AMC link up for global output

Amazon Prime Video has taken first-window rights to selected new AMC series under an exclusive output agreement signed with AMC Studios in the US.

AMC’s adaptation of Dan Simmons’ novel The Terror

The deal covers 28 territories including Germany, Italy, Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand, as well as second-run rights in other countries.

The first new AMC show coming to Amazon Prime Video in 2018 is The Terror, a fictionalised account of Sir John Franklin’s expedition to find the North-West Passage.

The series is executive produced by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner 2049), David W Zucker (The Man in the High Castle) and Guymon Cassady (Game of Thrones).

David Kajganich (True Story, A Bigger Splash) and Soo Hugh (The Whispers, The Killing) are executive producers, writers and co-showrunners with Scott Free, Emjag Productions and Entertainment 360 producing in association with AMC.

Amazon has also picked up worldwide SVoD rights outside of Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (with non-exclusive rights in France and Switzerland) to mystery thriller Zone Blanche, in a deal secured through Group AB.

The eight-episode series, produced by Ego Productions, was commissioned by France Télévisions and aired on France 2 in April. It was the first French show acquired by Amazon for worldwide distribution.

Zone Blanche will be a released to Prime Video users in more than 200 countries and territories next year under the international title Black Spot, dubbed into English, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
