A&E links with Wahlberg

US cablenet A&E Network has entered into an unscripted development and production deal with actor and film producer Donnie Wahlberg, and slated a doc on his marriage to actress and comedian Jenny McCarthy.

Donnie Love Jenny, a 10-part series following the newlyweds as they adjust to married life together, is the first project under the deal.

The show, which Wahlberg and McCarthy will executive produce through their D&J Productions outfit, will premiere in 2015 with a one-hour wedding special as episode one.

The series will be produced by 44 Blue Productions, which previously made Wahlburgers for A&E – an obs doc set in the restaurant owned by Donnie and his brothers, actor Mark, and Paul.

In other news, A+E Networks UK has commissioned a new documentary series Defenders of the Dky – The Story of the Airfield (working title) from factual outfit Woodcut Media.

The 10×60’ series, premiering early next year on H2, discovers hidden stories from airfields across Britain and was ordered by History and H2 director of programming Rachel Job.

Kate Beal, MD of Woodcut Media, which formed when Stithcombe Productions bought Talent South in August, will be the executive producer.
