A+E cuts Apple deal

A+E Networks is making a selection of content from its top three channels available via Apple TV’s set-top box.

Ad-supported shows from A&E, History and Lifetime will all be available to Apple TV viewers in the US, allowing them to watch selected episodes of series including Vikings, which airs on History, and A&E’s Bates Motel.

The limited selection of shows will be available to non-cable TV customers, while those with subscriptions through DirecTV, Verizon and Cablevision Systems will gain access to a wider A+E catalogue.

The move comes after A+E launched live feeds of A&E and History online and via its app last week. Other pay TV providers, such as Time Warner Cable and Comcast, already have TV Everywhere deals that allow them to make A+E shows available via mobile devices.
