ABC Family pilot echoes Knox case

ABC Family in the US has ordered a pilot of a drama that reflects the real-life story of Amanda Knox, the American student acquitted of murdering her British roommate in Italy.

Guilt is billed as an “edgy, soapy thriller” that follows an American in London who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her roommate.

The pilot will be produced by Sea to Sky Entertainment, the joint venture between Lionsgate Television and Canada’s Thunderbird Films, and BV Family Productions, in association with ABC Family.

The project hails from writers and exec producers Nichole Millard, Kathryn Price (The Game Plan) and exec producer Stephen McPherson.

Guilt is the latest pilot ordered by ABC, following dramas Stay and Beyond and comedy Gorgeous Morons.
