ZDF boards Danish crime series

MIPCOM: German broadcaster ZDF is joining a crime series commissioned by Denmark’s TV2 as a coproducer.

The Sommerdahl Murders is being produced by German prodco ndF, Scandi outfit Sequoia and LA-based distributor and financer Dynamic Television.

It is based on the bestselling book franchise from Danish author Anna Grue and is being packaged as both a 4×90’ and 8×45’ series, with Dynamic handling worldwide distribution. Production will begin in Denmark early next year.

Set in a picturesque coastal town, each episode revolves around a murder case that Detective Dan Sommerdahl and his best friend and colleague Detective Superintendent Fleming Torp must solve.

Lolita Bellstar (Lulu & Leon, The Legacy) serves as head writer, while the producers are Janni Helleskov of Sequoia, Matthias Walther from ndF and Jan Bennemann of Dynamic Television.
