VIS adds Awesomeness shows to slate

Viacom International Studios (VIS) has added a raft of series and films from its youth-skewing digital network Awesomeness to its distribution slate, with programming also set to become available via RTL Germany’s SVoD service.

VIS is now distributing 18 series and eight films from the Awesomeness portfolio internationally, including Emmy-winning show Zac & Mia, Light as a Feather starring Peyton List, and You’ve Been Tagged, a social media thriller featuring Noah Centineo.

Lauren Marriott, VP of international content sales at VIS, said the shows would “appeal to Gen Z audiences everywhere,” while Zachary Slatter, head of distribution for Awesomeness, added that VIS’s “expertise and large-scale network of distribution partners can help us build our profile and expand our brand footprint worldwide.”

RTL Germany is among the buyers to have picked up Awesomeness programming, which will become available via its recently launched SVoD service TV Now.

Moritz Pohl, head of VoD content at RTL, said: “Thanks to the partnership with Awesomeness and VIMN, we can supplement our exclusive content with high-quality programs for the increasingly important young audience.”

Awesomeness was launched in 2012 as AwesomenessTV and has been behind shows such as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before for Netflix and YouTube series My Dream Quinceañera and Malibu Surf. The company was acquired by Viacom in 2018.
