Ungar onboard Bohbot’s 41 Entertainment

Former Marvel Character Group president Rick Ungar has come onboard as head writer and executive producer at Allen Bohbot’s new transatlantic animation firm 41 Entertainment.

Ungar’s credits include X-Men and Biker Mice from Mars. He will work with 41 Entertainment to produce several new animation properties, one of which will be ready this summer.

It emerged last month that former BKN CEO Allen Bohbot had launched New York- and London-based animation and distribution company 41 Entertainment.

The company, to be officially unveiled at Mipcom Jnr in October, is looking at acquiring several large catalogues of intellectual properties and has signed two properties to date: Marco Antonio (26×26′), developed with MSL Software, and Talma and the Myth of Agharta (1×72′) from Sweatbox Productions.

The company has also launched a corporate animation division that will produce animation for corporate clients. It will have operations in New York and London, including production, distribution marketing and licensing.

41 Entertainment chairman and CEO Bohbot formerly presided over animation house BKN, which had a presence in the US, Germany, the UK and Spain. Last year it de-listed from the London stock exchange, but said it would remain on the Deutsche Bourse.

“41 Entertainment is a private company, funded privately and planning to compete in the market with creative and innovative animated product and production capabilities, strong distribution and marketing sales people and a good understanding of all the key markets of the world from a base in the US and Europe,” Bohbot said in a statement.

“This is a very exciting time for me to build this staff and organisation and to launch at a time when the market really needs new incentives.”
