Viacom-owned BET Networks in the US has revealed details of its latest project with Tyler Perry as part of its exclusive content deal with the filmmaker.

Sistas, which will premiere exclusively on cablenet BET this autumn, follows a group of black women from different walks of life who bond over being single.

The one-hour comedy drama marks the second original series to come out of the pact between producer, director, actor and screenwriter Perry’s Tyler Perry Studios and Viacom.

Written, directed and executive produced by Perry, it will star KJ Smith, Ebony Obsidian, Mignon Von and Novi Brown.

Sistas will follow the women as they navigate their “complicated” love lives, careers and friendships through the ups and downs of a modern world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals, according to BET.

Principal photography for the show is underway at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. Michelle Sneed will serve as executive producer for the prodco.

BET Networks began work on Perry’s new White House-set drama The Oval last month. The show is one of a number of projects Perry has lined up for BET, with other scripted series and a live holiday-themed production in the works.
