Syfy tunes into Channel Zero

US cablenet Syfy is developing a new horror series with Hannibal scribe Nick Antosca and Universal Cable Productions.

Antosca is writing Channel Zero, a horror anthology series with each season focusing on a new story. The first run will be based on Candle Cove by Kris Straub, a story that originates from the user-generated internet horror phenomenon known as creepypasta.

It tells the story of a mysterious children’s television show from the 1980s and the show’s role in a series of murders and one man’s dark secret.

Universal Cable Productions has previously worked with Syfy on Childhood’s End, an adaptation of Arthur C Clarke’s novel. Brave New World, based on Aldous Huxley’s classic novel, is currently being developed alongside Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television.

In related news, Syfy has commissioned a third season of supernatural drama Bitten. The 10 episodes will again be produced by No Equal Entertainment, Entertainment One Television, and Hoodwink Entertainment.
