Syfy catches Runaways

Marvel’s Runaways

NBCUniversal International Networks (NBCUIN) has picked up three new dramas from Disney UK and Ireland for its Syfy network in the UK.

Runaways is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios for Hulu. NBCUIN has also acquired supernatural thriller Sirens and sci-fi crime drama Stitchers.

Runaways tells the story of six teenagers who must unite against their parents. The series has already been commissioned for a second season and stars Rhenzy Feliz and Lyrica Okano.

Siren follows a battle between man and sea as evil mermaids return to reclaim their right to the ocean.

Freeform drama Stitchers sees a woman who has the ability to be ‘stitched’ into the minds of dead people recruited to help a covert government organisation investigate murders.

The Syfy acquisitions were announced by Lee Raftery, MD of the UK and emerging markets and chief marketing and content officer at NBCUniversal International.

Marvel’s Runaways will premiere on Syfy on April 18 with Sirens following in May and Stitchers later this year.
