SVT likes the look of Brave & Beautiful

Brave & Beautiful was first broadcast in Turkey on Star TV

Swedish public broadcaster SVT has picked up Turkish drama Brave & Beautiful from distributor Eccho Rights.

Brave & Beautiful is a romance set against a family feud and was first broadcast in Turkey on Star TV in 2016/17, produced by Ay Yapim.

The original series, which starred Tuba Büyüküstün and Kivanc Tatlitug in the romantic lead roles, was nominated in the Best Telenovela category at the International Emmy Awards.

It also won several Turkish awards and received the Silver Bird Prize for Serial Drama at the 2017 Seoul International Drama Awards.

International distributor Eccho Rights has now completed deals for the series in more than 80 territories.

SVT was the first channel in Western Europe to pick up a Turkish drama when it bought Ay Yapim’s The End in 2013. Following that first acquisition, SVT acquired 20 Minutes, also from Ay Yapim. For the past three years, Endemol Shine Turkey’s Broken Pieces has occupied SVT’s early evening drama slot.
