Studio 100 gets animated in Munich

A third Maya the Bee feature film is on the way

Belgian children’s producer Studio 100 has set up an animation studio in the German city of Munich that will accommodate up to 40 artists.

Studio Isar Animation will carry out CGI work such as modelling, texturing, shading, lighting, FX, compositing and rendering for Studio 100 film productions. It will also offer services for commissioned work by third parties and coproductions.

Together with its own animation studios Flying Bark Productions in Australia, Studio 100 Animation in France and Little Airplane Productions in the US, the Studio 100 group will now handle all aspects of upcoming film productions completely in-house.

As a first project, Studio Isar will take over the CGI work on the forthcoming third feature film in the Maya the Bee franchise, The Golden Orb.

Studio 100 Media, the German arm of Studio 100, will produce the movie with Flying Bark. The film has already been pre-sold internationally into countries including the US, France and Poland. FFF Bayern is supporting it with €1.5m (US$1.7m) via its copro funding programme.

Studio Isar will be based at the Munich headquarters of Studio 100 Media and will open in October.
