Sky D locks down Wentworth

FremantleMedia Australia’s prison drama Wentworth

German pay TV platform Sky Deutschland has picked up Australian prison drama Wentworth from FremantleMedia International.

The deal, which covers all five seasons of the series, marks the first time Wentworth will be available to German-speaking viewers.

Season one of the show will premiere on Sky Deutschland’s recently launched flagship channel Sky1 on December 7. The drama’s fifth season was commissioned by Foxtel in Australia in July.

Wentworth has been sold into more than 140 countries with three local adaptations, the most recent of which is a Flemish-language version commissioned by commercial Belgian broadcaster Vier.

Germany also has its own adaptation titled Block B – Unter Arrest (RTL), while the Dutch version is called Celblok H.
