Showtime’s Greenblatt out, Imagine boss in

Robert Greenblatt is to leave his role as Showtime Networks’ entertainment president and will be replaced by the head of Imagine Television.

Greenblatt, who has been with the pay-TV cablenet for seven years, will see out the remainder of his contract before handing over to David Nevins, Imagine’s president, who stepped down from that role yesterday. The departure was said to be amicable, according to US reports.

Greenblatt – a former Fox executive – previously headed his own prodco, The Greenblatt Janollari Studio (Six Feet Under, One on One, Platinum) with David Janollari, before joining Showtime to beef up its position as an alternative entertainment source to HBO. He leaves his current role in a month’s time.

During his tenure as president of entertainment at Showtime, Greenblatt grew a formidable drama and comedy slate, including Weeds, The Tudors, Nurse Jackie, Dexter and The Big C. His latest project was pan-European copro The Borgias, and only this week he outlined his plans for the series to C21TV.

Nevins, meanwhile, will take up his new post in a month’s time. Again, his departure is said to be on good terms with 20th Century Fox, where he has worked for 10 years.

During his time as president, Imagine produced shows such as NBC’s Parenthood, Friday Night Lights and Arrested Development.

Both Showtime and Imagine were unavailable to comment at press time.
