Script Angel hires development chief

Script Angel, the UK screenwriter-coaching and talent-development company founded by drama executive Hayley McKenzie, has appointed a Bafta-winning producer as director of development.

Jane Dauncey is joining in the newly created role as the agency staffs up to meet escalating global demand for narrative content.

Dauncey, founder of indies Machine Productions and Coracle Productions, will manage Script Angel’s team of screenwriting coaches and the growing slate of writers under its guidance.

She joins the London-based company as it rolls out its screenwriting coaching and writer-development programmes across the UK nations and regions, and prepares to expand into the global scripted market.

Dauncey has produced or series-produced dramas including The Level, The Trials of Jimmy Rose, Law & Order, Casualty, The Story of Tracy Beaker and Stella.

Over the past 20 years, she has worked for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Kudos, Hillbilly Films, Fiction Factory, Tidy Productions, CBBC and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

As a mentor and executive producer, she has trained young drama producers in Cambodia for BBC Media Action. She also teaches at Glasgow Caledonian University, where she is on the board of the MA course in screenwriting.
