Reel One brings in Lifetime alum Fratto

Canadian producer and distributor Reel One Entertainment has hired a former Lifetime and Pukeko Pictures executive as senior VP of series.

Adam Fratto has been hired to lead the company’s expansion into the global drama series business.

He was most recently working at A+E Networks-owned Lifetime supervising series including Mary Kills People.

Prior to that he built a new division at New Zealand’s Pukeko Pictures, sister company to Oscar-winning Weta Workshop (Lord of the Rings, Avatar), overseeing live-action content and developing a global slate of TV and feature projects.

With Pukeko, Australia’s Goalpost Pictures and Red Arrow Entertainment, he executive produced the acclaimed sci-fi series Cleverman, which was nominated for a Peabody Award in its first season. It was recently renewed for season two and airs in the US on Netflix as well as on Sundance.

Fratto also developed and co-executive produced the supernatural procedural Haven, based on a Stephen King novella, for five seasons on Syfy in the US and on Universal-branded channels around the world.

He also had a stint leading development at Atticus Entertainment.

Headquartered in Montreal with offices in London, Los Angeles and Vancouver, Reel One was founded in 2001 by media entrepreneur Tom Berry.

Berry, CEO, said: “Adam will drive expansion of Reel One’s series business adding to its long-established TV movie business and partnerships.

“Reel One will focus on highly commercial series made for and with broadcast and digital platforms worldwide.”
