Rebel Wilson to front ABC’s Pooch Perfect

US broadcast network ABC has commissioned a local version of dog grooming format Pooch Perfect, with the original version’s host Rebel Wilson fronting the show.

The format originated last year on Seven Network in Australia, produced by Seven Studios and hosted by local actor and comedian Wilson, known for appearing in the Pitch Perfect film franchise.

Elan Gale, Sonya Wilkes and Wilson are on board the eight-part US version as executive producers. Nicole Anthony, Mike Rosen, Carley Simpson and Matthew Silverberg will co-exec produce.

Each week on Pooch Perfect, teams will compete in grooming challenges, to be judged by television personality Lisa Vanderpump, celebrity dog groomer Jorge Bendersky and vet Dr Callie Harris.

The format is distributed by London-based Beyond Rights. A UK version, hosted by Sheridan Smith, is currently airing on BBC1, produced by Beyond Productions.
