Quibi series aims to make clean sweep

Soon-to-launch US mobile video platform Quibi has ordered a cleaning and organisation competition series from Endemol Shine Group’s Shine TV and Authentic Entertainment.

Tanya Shaw

Squeaky Clean (working title) is an eight-episode series in which dirt-obsessed contestants are challenged to clean against each other.

Tanya Shaw exec produces for Shine TV, while Helga Eike and Sara Reddy exec produce for Authentic Entertainment.

Shaw, Shine TV’s MD, said: “Cleaning is something we all do, some with more rigour than others, but what does it take to be the best? Working with Authentic for Quibi means we can answer this question on a global scale and get some great tips along the way.”

The de-cluttering space has become a surprise hot genre in reality television of late, led by Netflix’s break-out success Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.

Jeffrey Katzenberg’s Quibi unveiled more details of its April 6 launch this week with 50 original shows divided between three categories: movies in chapters; unscripted and docs; and daily essentials, which are five- to six-minute episodes of news and entertainment content.
