Outdoor, Insight TV go ballistic

Zig Zag’s Backyard Ballistics is fronted by Joerg Sprave and Cheyenne Ruether

US cablenet Outdoor Channel and millennial-focused Dutch broadcaster Insight TV have partnered on a new series fronted by YouTube star Joerg Sprave and creative technician Cheyenne Ruether.

Backyard Ballistics is being produced by London-based indie Zig Zag Productions and filmed in Germany and Denver.

The 10-part series will see Sprave, who is known for The Slingshot Channel on YouTube, and Ruether partner on building a series of elaborate launchers to meet challenges posed by social media followers.

The series is the first coproduction between the two broadcasters and Arun Maljaars, VP of content and channels at Insight TV, says the plan is for further US copros during 2021.

Slated to release in the summer, Outdoor Channel will broadcast Backyard Ballistics in North America and Insight TV will carry the series in the rest of the world. Insight TV will include the series on its channels in the US and Canada six months after Outdoor Channel has broadcast the series.
