OTF, Insight launch nature channel

Love Nature’s New Kids in the Wild

European factual producer and distributor Off The Fence (OTF) and Amsterdam-based broadcaster Insight TV are launching a channel dedicated to nature and wildlife content.

InWild will launch with 1,000 hours of content, with a 20% refresh rate per month, including shows like Wildest India, Wildest Latin America and Monkey Thieves.

“Around the world, nature and wildlife content remains one of the most popular genres. It’s evergreen content the whole family can enjoy,” said Arun Maljaars, VP of content and channels at Insight TV.

“Utilising OTF’s extensive library and our network infrastructure, we have built another Insight TV channel offshoot, InWild, to capitalise on the combination of our strengths. We think it will be a tremendous addition to linear and digital channel platforms in virtually any territory.”

OTF is also behind the soon-to-launch natural history-focused VoD service WaterBear, which unveiled its senior management team earlier this week.

In related news, Blue Ant-owned wildlife-focused channel Love Nature has ordered a series about baby animals from OTF and Arte in France.

New Kids in the Wild (5×60’) gives an up-close look at five baby animals in the wild, following the first crucial months of their lives from birth to their first steps and their ventures out into the world.

Exec producing are Debbie Hinnigan for OTF and James Manfull for Love Nature. Blue Ant International will oversee presales and licensing exclusively in the US and Canada.

“This tender look at baby animals and their families has a universal appeal that is perfect for co-viewing across generations,” said Carlyn Staudt, executive VP at Love Nature.

“The intimate stories of nurturing and discovery are set amid awe-inspiring and vibrant surroundings, which, shot in UHD, will bring audiences even closer to the epic natural world that shapes their lives.”
