Noggin, The N split into two separate services

MTV Networks’ Noggin and The N channels are to split into two separate networks to give US preschoolers and older kids their own dedicated 24-hour services.

From December 31, Noggin will become a commercial- free preschool service while The N will become a tween and teen channel featuring TeenNick programming in the day and The N’s content at night.

At present, the two services share space on the same channel under MTVN’s Kids & Family Group. Noggin and The N will be carried by all US cable operators, DirecTV, AT&T, U-verse and Verizon FiOS.

Programming for Noggin includes original titles such as Jack’s Big Music Show and The Upside Down Show as well as Nick Jr favourites such as Dora the Explorer and The Wonder Pets.

Featured TeenNick programming running on The N during the day includes Drake & Josh, The Amanda Show and All That while programming at night from The N includes new seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation, About a Girl (which is The N’s first ever scripted comedy series) and Endemol USA-produced reality show Queen Bees.

Cyma Zarghami, president of Nickelodeon and MTVN’s Kids & Family Group, said: “Having Noggin and The N as two separate channels alongside our Nicktoons network gives our core audience of preschoolers, kids 6-11 and teens/tweens their own dedicated 24-hour services as well as more places for us to cultivate and develop future hits.

“Making these channels separate and distinct will also provide us with the opportunity to explore serving audiences adjacent to these demos and will provide the demo specific home bases for our vast programming library.”
