Ninja Warrior invades Austria

MIPTV: Puls 4 in Austria has become the latest international broadcaster to commission a local version of the Ninja Warrior format.

Ninja Warrior adapted for TF1 in France

The Austrian adaptation will be filmed on the set used by neighbouring country Hungary, where the format was previously licensed to commercial broadcaster TV2.

The deal was sealed by the format’s European distributor The Story Lab, which recently secured renewals for the UK version with ITV and for the French series with TF1.

Spain’s Antena 3, SBS in Holland, RTL2 in Germany and Discovery Networks in Italy all have their own versions of the format, which was first broadcast in Japan in 1997 titled Sasuke and is owned by Tokyo Broadcasting System Television.

The physical competition format was remade as American Ninja Warrior by NBC in the US.
