You First Sports adds Martínez to team

Spanish sports-focused prodco You First Sports has hired freelance producer Javier Martínez as its originals director.

Martinez has been a freelance consultant for the past year after 10 years at Madrid producer Phileas Productions, where he rose to executive producer and business development partner.

At You First, he will be responsible for promoting the production of original and branded formats within the content department, which is led by Luis Miguel Calvo.

The company began its original production capabilities with the urban sports docuseries Héroes, which ran for two seasons on Spanish pubcaster RTVE and its streaming platform Playz.

Calvo said: “With Javier’s arrival, we consolidate our commitment to the development of talent-driven projects at the highest level. Javier’s professional expertise merges with our differential values, based on our own talent, digital innovation and proximity to brands, essential partners in the new audiovisual production ecosystem.”

You First owns Spanish production company Red Burton, which it uses to make its originals. Recently its branded documentary Real Changers premiered on global streamer Amazon Prime Video.
