Since joining the company in August 2019, veteran exec Ellenbogen has executed significant deals for original content and library titles including Peanuts, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Degrassi and Caillou, in addition to expanding its consumer products business and raising capital to fund growth.

WildBrain noted that Ellenbogen’s new contract includes an option for him to transition to executive chair in the second half of the term, as part of its “overall succession planning.”

“When Eric was appointed CEO and vice chair almost three years ago, WildBrain needed a new vision and a turnaround. In that time, he has successfully set the company on a profitable and sustainable growth trajectory,” said Don Wright, chair of WildBrain’s board of directors.

Former Dreamworks exec and Classic Media chief Ellenbogen joined WildBrain (fka DHX Media) in 2019 following a strategic review that saw some of its most senior executives depart, including executive chair Michael Donovan.

“He has built a deep and experienced management team and infused our global organisation with a culture of creative excellence, innovation, accountability and inclusivity,” added Wright.
