Wenger to head C4 drama

The UK’s Channel 4 has appointed Piers Wenger as head of drama, following the departure of Camilla Campbell.

Wenger is currently senior commissioning executive at Film4, Channel’s 4’s movie diginet. He will lead the broadcaster’s drama commissioning team, overseeing output across all channels and platforms.

Wenger was previously head of drama at BBC Wales, where he executive produced Doctor Who.

Campbell stepped down in December along with colleague Robert Wulff-Cochrane to launch Noho Film and TV, a scripted drama JV with ITV Studios.

The pair had headed C4’s drama efforts for two years prior to that, commissioning hits including Misfits, Skins, Fresh Meat, Beaver Falls, This is England ’86 and ’88, and Top Boy.
