Wattpad adapts Filipino story Kiss Master with social entertainment platform Kumu

Canadian story-sharing platform Wattpad is partnering with Philippines-based social entertainment platform Kumu to adapt a Filipino story called Kiss Master.

The companies said the eight-episode adaptation will use Kumu’s interactive live streams to give the fans of the story the chance to influence the project’s casting, storytelling and more.

Penned by Wattpad author Jamille Fumah, Kiss Master follows a couple who reconnect five years after a painful break-up. To date, the story has racked up 7.7 million reads on Wattpad.

The adaptation is being produced by Black Sheep Productions, which has produced Filipino films including Exes Baggage, Alone/Together, Fan Girl and Whether the Weather Is Fine.

Chad Vidanes, who worked on the Wattpad rom-com He’s Into Her, has been tapped to direct the project. The main roles will be played by Kaori Oinuma, Kyle Echarri and Joao Constancia.

Author Fumah has become one of the most read authors on Wattpad, garnering more than 336 million reads for more than 30 stories.
