Sweden’s Mopar Studios hires Big Light alum Sharon Remmer for UK push

Stockholm-based Mopar Studios has hired former Big Light Productions executive Sharon Remmer to spearhead its push into the UK market.

As head of Mopar UK and creative director of drama, Remmer will helm Mopar’s expansion into the English-language market, as well as oversee all shows in production.

With over 30 years’ experience in production and development, Remmer has worked on shows including Bad Girls, Holby City, The Man in the High Castle and Medici: Masters of Florence.

Most recently, Remmer founded her own company, SR StoryWorks, to develop high-end drama with an emphasis on diversity and original voices.

Prior to that, she was head of drama for Frank Spotnitz’s prodco Big Light Productions and head of development at Stephen Fry and Gina Carter’s Sprout Pictures.

Remmer also held the role of creative director at Green Pavilion, where she worked alongside MGM and ITV Studios and generated a slate of projects for the international and domestic markets.
