NEWS BRIEF: Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) has bought the rights to non-dialogue comedy franchise Oggy and the Cockroaches, which will air on its Sony Yay! kids’ channel from October 11.

Made by French animator Xilam, over 500 episodes across seven seasons have aired since its launch in 1998. Oggy is a cat who desires nothing more than a peaceful life, which is more than the three cockroaches he lives with are prepared to give him.

The show’s profile has been maintained through YouTube, with official videos getting hundreds of millions of weekly views in India.
