Sony expands FAST channel distribution

Gameshow Escape Perfecto

Sony Pictures Television’s free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channel Sony Canal, which serves Spanish-speaking viewers in the US, has been made available on free streaming platforms Xumo and PlutoTV.

Xumo will feature a channel called Sony Canal Competencias, which offers reality formats and gameshows. Titles available on the channel include Ruleta Rusa (Russian Roulette), in which four contestants are placed over six trapdoors that can open at any time, and Escape Perfecto, an adaptation of Israeli format Raid the Cage.

Pluto TV, meanwhile, will host a FAST channel entirely dedicated to Escape Perfecto, called Sony Canal Escape Perfecto. The gameshow features competitors playing for a certain amount of time inside a cage with prizes literally up for grabs.

Pluto TV will also feature Sony Canal Comedias, dedicated to Latin American remakes of comedy series. Adaptations of US shows Married With Children (Casados Con Hijos), Who’s the Boss? (Quién Manda a Quién?) and I Dream of Jeannie (Mi Bella Genio) are available on the channel.

Also on Comedias is Aquí No Hay Quien Viva, the Colombian remake of the hit Spanish comedy telenovela. New episodes of all series are available Monday to Friday, with all-day marathons of Aquí No Hay Quien Viva on Saturdays and Casados Con Hijos on Sundays.

As well as PlutoTV and Xumo, Sony Canal is available on free channels Samsung TV Plus, The Roku Channel, Plex and Vizio SmartCast.
