Sky takes Woodcut crime spree to Germany

Surviving a Serial Killer looks at murderers including Peter Sutcliffe

Pay TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has bought a selection of true crime series from UK distributor Woodcut International.

Surviving a Serial Killer (6×60’), The Killer Within (10×60’), The Beverley Allitt Tapes (3×60’) and seasons two and three of How I Caught The Killer (20×60’) have all been picked up by the German arm of the European satcaster.

Founded last September, Woodcut International had the titles on sale as part of its 100-hour slate for MipTV earlier this month. All the shows are produced by its production arm, Woodcut Media.

The Killer Within was originally commissioned by Sky UK for its Sky Crime network, while Surviving a Serial Killer was ordered by fellow UK broadcaster Channel 4 at the end of February.

Parisian distribution consultant Anne Roder-Botbol, who brokered the deal, said: “Woodcut has an incredibly strong slate of high-end crime programming with broad international appeal. It’s great to have closed this first deal with Sky Germany, especially as the genre continues to perform globally.”
