UK factual indie Roast Beef Productions has teamed up with Alexander Nanau, the Romanian director behind Oscar-nominated film Collective, to produce a feature doc about a married couple who have spent decades hunting Nazis.

Klarsfeld (1×90’) follows Beate and Serge Klarsfeld who have hunted, confronted and exposed Nazi war criminals, tracking them down in places as far-flung as South America and the Middle East. Now in their 80s, they continue their activism against today’s new Nazis and far-right extremists.

Mike Lerner and Martin Herring (Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, The Square, Hell & Back Again) will direct, while Nanau will act as executive producer.

Fremantle is handling the international sales of the doc, which is set to launch at the end of this year.

Lerner, MD at Roast Beef Productions, said: “For more than half a century, the Klarsfelds have been a huge inspiration and role models for those activists who seek justice and oppose fascism, and yet their story has been under-appreciated by the wider world. Until now. We are delighted that Fremantle are on board to bring these historic achievements to the international market.”
